It is important to thoroughly clean your sex toys after every single use (better also before, especially if they have been stored for a while). You should always read any accompanying instructions carefully as different materials and toys have different care requirements.
Basic care
Toys can be cleaned with liquid soap (we recommend a non-scented, mild soap) and warm water. You should clean thoroughly taking extra care of any crevices. For an extra level of cleanliness you can also use an anti-bacterial anti-bacterial cleaning agent specific for sex toys. Following a thorough rinse, the toys should be wiped down with a clean cloth, air dried fully and stored either in the original box or (if provided in the box) a storage bag to prevent dust build up. Other options for storage include glass tupperware or a sealable cosmetic bag. Use one container for each toy and only that toy. Never store your sex toys in contact with each other and keep them in a cool, dry, dark place. For those who prefer extra sanitation there is even the option to purchase a container that can both store and also sanitize the product using UV.

Non-porous Toys
Some materials such as silicone, stainless steel and glass are more likely to be non-porous and this helps prevent build-up of bacteria and other micro-organisms. As such, toys made from these materials are highly recommended. These materials can also be rinsed with boiled water (taking appropriate care) if the toy is waterproof. Some can even be placed in boiled water for approximately 10 minutes to sanitize them (as long as the toy is not mechanical – you cannot submerge a toy with a motor or batteries, like vibrators, for example).
Porous Toys
Toys made from porous materials such as jellies, other plastics and rubbers retain bacteria more easily and require extra attention. In addition to the cleaning and storage methods mentioned before, you can also use antibacterial sex toy cleaners or diluted bleach (be sure to rinse thoroughly) and you can get into any ridges or nooks using a toothbrush (save one only for this purpose). Even with this extra care however they can accumulate bacteria over time so you could consider to use a toy appropriate condom and you should take special care to check them often and replace them more frequently. You can visually inspect and even smell the toys often for signs of wear and tear and bacterial build-up.
General Tips
Take care to check the waterproof rating of your toy when cleaning – toys that are waterproof can be washed directly under a tap rather than just wiped down. If your toy has batteries they should be removed before cleaning. If your toy has a plug or USB charging point unplug it before cleaning. If your toy has small openings (such as clitoral stimulaters that are designed to blow or suck) you could consider using a cotton bud to clean around the inside edges.
While it is not the most enjoyable part, keeping your toys clean is a necessity that can prevent uncomfortable infections that might ruin your experience. Although caring for your toys does not always have to be a chore. The time taken to clean your toy before use can be used to build anticipation of what (or who) is about to come. If you are heading to the shower before, during or after your play session, and your toy is waterproof, cleaning can be naturally incorporated. You can also think of the care of your toy after you finish as forward preparation for your next adventure!
